Job Description

Special Grace Academy is a K-9 school teaching the GES curriculum with a strong STEM focus, including robotics, AI and coding. We are recognised by the Ghana Education Service and the National Schools Inspectorate Authority. We want our finance office to keep clean records, account for cash every day, and produce budgets the board can trust. The role You will own day-to-day accounting and tax compliance. You report to the Director of Operations and Strategy, and you will also have a direct, documented route to the Board on any control concern. Everyone at SGA, including the owners, works under the same written approval and cash-banking policy, and part of your job is to hold the line on it What you will do • Reconcile all income every day across cash, bank and mobile money (fees, feeding and other lines), and close the books each month. Receipting and banking are kept separate from fee follow-up. • Run payroll with correct PAYE and SSNIT (Tier 1 and Tier 2) deductions, and file and pay on time. • Deduct and remit withholding tax on supplier payments, and keep SGA current under the VAT Act, 2025 (Act 1151) and the Income Tax Act. Prepare annual returns and the audit file. • Prepare the annual budget with management, a monthly budget-versus-actual report, and a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast. • Track fee balances by class and term, and send clear statements to parents. • Build Excel and Google Sheets tools that colleagues can use without breaking, working with our ICT and Data Officer. In your first 90 days: Confirm that every statutory filing and payment is current. Get the 13-week cash forecast running. Build a monthly fee and enrolment dashboard so that families falling behind on fees are seen early, while we can still help them stay.

Requirement(s)

What you bring • An HND or bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, and progress toward ICAG (CA Ghana) or ACCA. Part-qualified candidates are welcome. • At least two years in accounting, ideally in a school, NGO or SME. • Working knowledge of PAYE, SSNIT, withholding tax, the 2026 VAT changes, and filing on the GRA Taxpayers Portal. • Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills (SUMIFS, XLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation, protected ranges), plus accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage. • Budgets and forecasts you have built and can walk us through. • Integrity in line with the ICAG Code of Ethics, including the confidence to say no to a senior colleague.
