Microbiologist Specialist
Job Description
The specialist is responsible for conducting and supervising microbiological tests on drinking water, wastewater, and food samples using laboratory techniques and microbiological methods to identify bacteria, yeasts, fungi, and other microorganisms. They must be familiar with sample preparation, dilution, filtration, and culturing methods, as well as incubation techniques and microbial identification procedures. The specialist should also be capable of preparing culture media, performing biochemical tests, and interpreting results accurately. They must ensure the quality of materials and procedures used in microbiology laboratories and oversee performance control. Additionally, the specialist should coordinate directly with the environmental health department to carry out microbiological tests and prepare the necessary reports for clients and health authorities. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or related biological sciences, with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the field. The specialist must also be capable of training and supervising laboratory technicians, developing standard procedures, and ensuring adherence to safety standards. Proficiency in English (reading and writing) is required.
