A Procurement Officer, also known as a Purchasing Officer or Procurement Specialist, is a professional responsible for managing the procurement process within an organization. Their role involves acquiring goods and services required for the organization's operations, ensuring cost- effectiveness, and adhering to established policies and procedure.

Requirement(s)

Responsibilities: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, conducting market research to assess their capabilities. Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable agreements in terms of price, quality, and delivery. Generate purchase orders based on approved requisitions, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, addressing any issues that may arise. Manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with agreed- upon terms and conditions. Work to minimize costs while maintaining quality standards in procurement activities. Ensure adherence to organizational procurement policies, as well as legal and ethical standards. Identify and assess risks associated with the procurement process, implementing strategies to mitigate them. Stay informed about market trends, pricing fluctuations, and changes in the industry. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as departments requesting procurement, to understand their needs. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of procurement transactions and contracts. Qualifications: Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with suppliers. Must have a first degree. 5 years working experience Effective communication skills to convey procurement strategies and collaborate with internal stakeholders. Analytical mindset to assess supplier proposals, market trends, and cost structures. Ability to manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously. Sound decision-making skills to choose the best suppliers and procurement strategies. Adherence to high ethical standards in procurement practices. Thoroughness in reviewing contracts and ensuring accuracy in procurement processes. Efficient time management to meet procurement deadlines. Flexibility to adapt to changes in market conditions or internal requirements. Stay updated on relevant procurement regulations and compliance requirements.
